Heroscape tile stacking gives that verticality that breaks line of sight quite well. Particularly if you lay down a 2 x 2 ft game area and stack ‘em high’. Lots of canyons and deep gullies allowing you to stealthily close with the enemy. Battling it out is now a brutal close combat romp. No more death dealt from eight hexes away, this time it’s personal. Although the height advantage is still relevant the closeness make it less effective. The additional beauty here is that you can reconfigure the terrain quickly for new scenarios. To date I tend to use only the magic, treasure and line of sight rules of Frostgrave and the simple combat rules of Heroscape. This gives me a fast and fun alternative I can play in the workshop while waiting for paint to dry. Seriously, it’s more interesting than watching paint dry?
